The Nightingale's Tale

Poetic Expressions of Faith, Fortune, and Grief by Selina

  • I'm on my way to die
But I want to stay alive
There's so much more to see
Yet my body tends to freeze
    Knees lock and knock
There's a lump in my throat
    Decisions in front of me
    They're so hard to believe
    I question what I see
    What is behind the curtain?

    A dancing skeleton!

    "Have fun before you die!
    Everything is right!
    It's all meant to be!
You are who you are, until you're in the ground.
Don't weigh your decisions like gold, when there’s gold out there to be found!"

I transmute my pain into power
    I bloom through the mud;
    A lotus flower

I don't need to count the hour
    I trust in divine timing
I give my worries to God,
The ultimate one I confide in

    Sometimes life is hard...
With grief and woes, it can hurt
Yet in it there's a lesson, a gift
    Waiting to be learned

I'll pray in times of strife
and pray when I see the sun
I'll pray in the winter cold
and pray when spring has sprung

    I walk through the flames;
    Baptized by fire
In this life, I walk a long road
Even when my feet are tired

I transmute my pain into power
I turn my tears into wine
Never will I waver from Spirit
For I am a conduit of Divine
